Ubisoft have announced that the Six Invitational 2021 is postponed and will play out at a later date. Here is their statement:
Six Invitational 2021 postponed – Why?
In the statement above, Ubisoft address that the main reason for the postponement of the tournament is because of the new pandemic rules set in France. This new rule dictates that all non-EU travelers are not allowed in the country. In the statement they also mention that they have been working tirelessly alongside their partner, Live Nation to try and find alternative situations to resolve this issue. With the problems that come with a LAN Esports event it was totally out of the question.
The event, originally intended to commence between the 9th and 21st of February would have been the biggest Rainbow Six event in 2021. The tournament will feature 20 of the best teams, from several regions, competing against each other for the title of best in the world.
What’s next?
With the event being postponed, Ubisoft will have to take their time and asses when the pandemic slows down. Maybe in due time, it will be possible for the Six Invitational 2021 to be hosted in a LAN environment.
Tons of fans are excited for this event as this would be the first major offline Rainbow Six event since the pandemic started, despite it featuring no audience.
