Earlier this year, the competitive Super Smash Bros. community warmly received the announcement of the Smash World Tour 2020. Indeed, the structure built by VGBootCamp and Super Smash Con was to tour the world for the highest level of competition ever seen. However, things took a turn for the worse. Here’s another look at the remaining events.
Accordingly, it was planned to kick off on March 13th and running up to December 20th with a prize of $250,000. However, due to the global situation, the following changes were made:
- All events up to 1st June 2020 cancelled including gold and platinum tiers
- Platinum events – Pound 2020, Umebura Japan Major 2020, Get on My Level 2020 and others have been cancelled while others have been postponed
- Gold events – MomoCon 2020, Battle of BC 4 and more cancelled while others postponed.
All in all, it’s been a complete disaster. However, thanks to an update, online competition is now more reliable. Indeed, the Smash World Tour 2020 finally made the transition to online.
Bearing this in mind, the following events have been confirmed for the remainder of the year.
