It’s been 10 years since Blizzard Entertainment released the incredibly awaited sequel to StarCraft I. Despite the immense pressure and expectations, Starcraft II would succeed in pleasing the community. The Starcraft II anniversary is extra special this year.
To celebrate, Blizzard is releasing an ‘anniversary update’. Presented as the 5.0 PTR patch notes, the following changes are notable:
- A new genre of Custom Campaigns
- Additional Campaign Achievements
- Bonus in-game announcers
- Co-op missions received a “Prestige” system together with multiple new Commanders
- An immense number of bug fixes
Accordingly, the player count has temporarily spiked as the community convenes to celebrate the Starcraft II anniversary. The esports community has also witnessed a much-needed blast of activity too.
Unfortunately, Blizzard isn’t celebrating the event through a convention of form. Regardless, now is the perfect time to start playing the free-to-play title of Starcraft II.
Honestly, it’s amazing to see how much a title such as Starcraft II, on its tenth anniversary, has come such a long way since its release.
