Stockholm DPC Major Seeds – Announced by Valve
Indeed, this piece of news has been confirmed in two ways. Firstly, we have the following Tweet from ‘Perfect World Dota’ which acts as the Chinese organizer for Dota 2:
Accordingly, it’s implied that although the Chinese teams will not be making it to Stockholm Major 2022, they will instead compete in a regional elimination bracket.
Also, the seeds listed on the ESL One Stockholm 2022 page do not feature any spots for China.
Naturally, let’s consider why the region has been left out for the second time. Accordingly, in the scope of global health, China continues to be less secure compared to other regions. Hence, Valve has made the difficult decision.
However, it’s unclear as to why Valve did not opt for the approach Riot Games used – allow the Chinese teams to compete remotely.
