T1 have announced that they will be adding Daeny and Zefa to their main LoL coaching staff. Here is their announcement video:
T1 adding Daeny and Zefa to LoL coaching staff – Who are they?
Both of these coaches led the Worlds 2020 champions DAMWON Gaming during the entire year. However this will be Zefa’s 2nd time coaching the T1 roster as he had coached them previously between 2018 and 2019. During his time with the team, they had the following results:
- 3rd-4th at 2019 World Championship – 3th November 2019 – $155,750
- 1st at LCK Spring 2019 – 13th April 2019 – $88,239
- 1st at LCK Summer 2019 – 31st August 2019 – $82,778
Daeny on the other hand will be coaching the team for the first time. He started his League of Legends coaching career with DAMWON Gaming at the beginning of 2020. Previously he was a professional PUBG player, where he earned a total of $12,848.83 in prize money. We’ve already seen his capabilities with a top League of Legends team, but will he be able to replicate his success with a team like T1?
Are these the only signings?
No, there is one more additional signing, but it is related to T1’s academy team. As stated by T1, former professional player Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong will be assigned as a head coach of the T1 academy team. Bengi, with his incalculable experience, will definitely be an asset to their academy team, but in the end we have to see how they fare in the 2021 season.
This is definitely an interesting coaching change from T1, and will hopefully benefit them during the 2021 season. After their disappointing 2020 it was clear that the organization had to introduce some changes, and seeing them add recent world champion coaches is definitely a good sign.
