On the 10th of March T1 (Previously known as SK Telecom T1) announced that Braxton “Brax” Pierce (Formerly known as Swag) will be joining their organization as a content creator while also being assigned to represent T1 in Valorant, CS:GO and other FPS titles as, “T1 Brax”.
With this signing, Brax is the first ever Valorant player to be signed, with the game still unreleased. This shows that T1 is confident that Brax is one of the best talents out there when it comes to First Person Shooters.
Who is Brax?
Brax was an up and coming player in the CS:GO scene, he had the aim, the tactical awareness, he played smart and above all, he was one of the youngest players at the time. But unfortunately, one mistake cost him his career. Back in 2014 he and his CS:GO team, iBUYPOWER were banned indefinitely from Valve events for match-fixing.
Over the past few years some tournament organizers realized that an indefinite ban from competing in CS:GO was too much of a punishment, hence the unbanning from ESL and Dreamhack. Although, this was not enough to keep Brax from retiring.
He recently tweeted out that he wasn’t in the right mentality to keep competing, and has been suffering from depression for a long time, so him getting this signing is quite literally, life-changing.
This is his tweet:
What does this signing represent?
This signing means that we’ll have a mix of past, inactive and even retired pros from different esports switching over to Valorant, which isn’t entirely a bad thing. The more the merrier, as people transfer their skills from past games to Valorant and increase the skill ceiling. We have not heard anything about the Valorant beta as of yet, but I’m sure that as soon as it comes out, a ton of players from all around the world will test it out, and see how it feels and how it compares to other FPS titles.
