Year after year, Dota 2′s staple event of The International pursues the task of setting new records. Every time, it manages to smash the prize pool record of the previous year. The International 2020 Prize Pool has already reached $30,000,000. At this rate, it could easily set a new record for the industry!
Excitingly, The International 2020’s prize pool looks to break last year’s $34.3 million. Accordingly, the following graph puts TI10’s progress as the highest ever in terms of prize pool so far:
Basically, for those unaware, The International prize pool is partly crowd-funded. To begin with, Valve puts down an initial deposit, $1,600,000 for this year. Secondly, a purchasable Battle Pass is available to players which majorly contributes to the expanding the prize pool.
However, although the usual is for the Battle Pass to be available for 100 days, things have changed. Sadly, Valve postponed the event indefinitely to sometime next year. Therefore, the Battle Pass may be offered for longer or contributions closed in the usual 100 days.
Regardless, The International 2020 Prize Pool looks to push the limits as always.
