Indeed, over the course of the past few years, competitive Rainbow Six Siege has risen to the forefront. Mainly, acting as one of the top PC shooter FPS esports titles. Bearing this in mind, the announcement of Tom Clancy’s XDefiant has everyone excited. Let’s see if there’s esport potential!
Tom Clancy’s XDefiant – Beta Impressions
We bring this topic up at the perfect time. Indeed, only a few hours ago, the beta for the title was just released. With reviews still emerging, let’s discuss gameplay footage.
Also, this new title in the series look to be a 6v6 shooter (free-to-play) which tries to continue where Rainbow Six Siege left off. Indeed, by this we’re referring to gameplay mechanics.
Without commenting ourselves, take a look at the gameplay trailer to see for yourselves:
Notably, with no announcement over the release date, it looks to be a live-service game which receives multiple updates over a long period of time. Unlike R6S, this looks to include multiple game modes, while still embracing agents/classes with unique abilities.
However, the gameplay trailer was not received very well by the community. Indeed, the main criticisms revolve around the game ‘looking too much like Call of Duty’ and less like the classic Tom Clancy look.
Bearing this in mind, as the community tests out the beta over the next few days, such little things could change.
Indeed, in terms of esport, there is definitely potential. Apart from Ubisoft having experience in growing a shooter esport, the fact that this title is planned as a long-term ‘live-service’ promises a degree of stability.
Let’s see what we can learn in the future.
