Very excitingly, the great guys over at Esports Charts have just recently released some details with regards to viewership. Accordingly, they spilled the beans over the top 5 most viewed esports of last year. Without further delay, let’s dive into the Top 5 Esports Viewership list for 2020!
5 – Garena Free Fire
- 132,245,801 – Hours Watched
- 3,165 – Hours of Air Time
- 2,566,046 – Peak Viewers
4 – PUBG Mobile – Top Mobile Esports Viewership
- 134,554,130 – Hours Watched
- 7,853 – Hours of Air Time
- 1,153,865 – Peak Viewers
Would you look at that? As you can see, the rivalry between PUBG Mobile and Garena Free Fire was real last year and will continue this year. Right now, although PUBG Mobile can enjoy more hours of air time, Garena Free Fire is enjoying a higher peak of viewers!
3 – Dota 2
- 253,396,874 – Hours Watched
- 12,537 – Hours of Air Time
- 508,082 – Peak Viewers
Without The International 2020, peak viewership suffered in Dota 2 though still managing to remain popular and successful. Yet, they need to improve these figures for this year, that’s for sure.
2 – CS:GO
- 354,260,901 – Hours Watched
- 19,035 – Hours of Air Time
- 1,002,132 – Peak Viewers
1 – The King of Esports Viewership – LOL
- 580,847,076 – Hours Watched
- 12,007 – Hours of Air Time
- 3,882,252 – Peak Viewers
Indeed, the first and second placed esports are no surprise whatsoever, as they dominated 2021, especially League of Legends. This can be accredited to a globalized approach and a willingness to host the Worlds 2020 in person.
Once again, we’d like to thank Esports Charts for publicly revealing these statistics.
