Yesterday, we saw another battle between two amazing LCS teams, TSM and Golden Guardians. They have both had a decent Summer Split, both ending in 4th and 5th in the group stage respectively, and overall performed really well during the entire season. In the end however, TSM seemed to be the better team, ending the best of 5 series with a reverse sweep in their favor.
TSM reverse sweep Golden Guardians – How did TSM make it to Worlds?
In the group stage, TSM started out in the Quarterfinals versus the Golden Guardians, but unfortunately lost 3-0 to them. This loss got them in the 1st round of the losers bracket versus Dignitas, which TSM managed to win 3-0. After that victory, TSM advanced to the 2nd round of the losers bracket, versus Golden Guardians, and this is how it went.
Game 1
In game 1, Golden Guardians had the edge since the very first minute, and with great coordination around the objective, GG secured the 1st game win.
Game 2
With regards to game 2, Golden Guardians had been surrounding their game plan around their main jungler, Closer. This worked very well in the early stages of the game, as his ganks in the top and bottom lane got them a huge economy boost with every elimination.
Game 3
Game 3 was much closer, however with TSM’s amazing teamfighting, they managed to bring it back and win it, to deny GG the clean sweep.
Game 4
In Game 4, we saw another dominating performance by TSM with their incredible ability to win very important teamfights. This led to them tying the series, and reaching match point.
Game 5
The final match of the series was quite close, even though Golden Guardians were ahead in gold difference for the majority of the match. Despite their advantages, TSM still had the stronger teamfights, which ended up benefiting them in the long run as they defeated Golden Guardians in the 5th and final match. Reverse sweeping the roster that clean sweeped them in the early stages of LCS playoffs.
This win meant everything to TSM’s ADC. Doublelift, as you can see in his tweet before the match:
Bjergsen was considered as the player of the series after his stunning performance during the 2nd round of the losers bracket.
What’s next for TSM?
With this victory TSM reverse sweep Golden Guardians, and they will be facing off Cloud9 in the 3rd round of the losers bracket. Their match is scheduled for August 29th.
We already have Team Liquid and Flyquest confirmed for Worlds 2020, and either TSM or Cloud9 will also be going to Worlds. The LCS Summer Split has certainly delivered so far, and we can’t wait to see the final stages of this season.
