VCT Stage 1 Masters Reykjavik Recap – Return of a Region
Accordingly, if you haven’t heard yet – competitive VALORANT has gone back home to North America.
With $675,000 on the line, the top 12 teams in the world went head to head. Notably, OpTic showed up not as the first seed in NA, but a second seed.
Looking initially wobbly, OpTic started the tournament with a 0-2 loss to XERXIA. However, from that game on, they went flawless in the group, winning a rematch Decider match.
Heading into the bracket, here are the matches OpTic went through to reach the Upper Bracket Final:
- 2-1 over The Guard
- 2-1 over DRX
Yet, in the Upper Bracket they would fall short in a 2-1 loss to LOUD, from Brazil. Knocked down to the Lower Bracket Final, they would then not lose a single map – sweeping ZETA DIVISION and sweeping LOUD in the Grand Final!
A massive victory for North America, this is also OpTic’s first international win in competitive VALORANT!
