VCT Stage 1 Reykjavik Update – New Regions Here
So, for those unaware, yesterday the Upper Bracket Semifinals took place. Specifically, LOUD shocked everyone with their continued dominance, sweeping G2 Esports, while OpTic Gaming inched out DRX to earn a 2-1 win.
Accordingly, the losing teams fell down to the Lower Bracket, with two teams waiting to fight for elimination.
Heading into match day today, there are six teams left – yet two will be eliminated overnight.
Take a look at the matches remaining so far:
Upper Bracket Final (22nd April)
- LOUD vs OpTic Gaming
Lower Bracket Round 2 (Today)
- DRX vs ZETA DIVISION
- G2 Esports vs Paper Rex
Focusing on the two games in the Lower Bracket, each team is fighting for a spot in the top 4. As you can see, G2 Esports is the final team from EMEA, holding on to dear life while APAC and South Korea seem to be taking over.
That seems to be talking point right now – with only one NA team and one EMEA team, could we see a new region take the international throne?
