For competitive League of Legends, Worlds 2021 has been one incredible journey. Accordingly, we’ve been there every step of the way. Finally, over the past week we witnessed a conclusion to this epic event. Indeed, below you can find your Worlds 2021 Recap as we follow the rise of the LPL!
Worlds 2021 Recap – The LPL is Back On Top
Heading into this event, we knew that a winner would emerge from the regions of the LCK and the LPL. Namely, EDward Gaming came out on top for the LPL, let’s follow their journey.
Starting in the Group Stage, they got off to a weaker start then expected. Specifically, they went 4-2 to earn a second seed right under T1 over in Group A.
Earning a spot in the Knockout Stage, they never got a free win. Look at the following results:
- Royal Never Give Up vs EDward Gaming (2-3) – taking down their regional rivals, they emerge as the Kings of the LPL with the entire region looking to them
- EDward Gaming vs Gen.G (3-2) – heading into the semifinals, EDG were the final non-Korean team. Luckily, they managed to take down the lower LCK seed in the form of Gen.G
And then, in the Grand Final, EDward Gaming earned their spot as the best in the world after taking down last year’s champions – DWG KIA.
This is the rise of the LPL once again!
